Welcome, Kaylee! Let’s start the interview!
Why did you start your Bookstagram?
After I graduated college, I wanted an outlet to talk about what I was reading, so I decided to start a book blog. I made a Bookstagram as well, and though the blog is long gone now, I’m happy to still be active over here on Booksta!
Where are you from?
The Bay Area in California!
What’s a fun fact about you?
I have six cats, and two of them are named after book characters! (Silas from Sorcery of Thorns and Astrid from A Darker Shade of Magic).

What’s on your current TBR list?
Endless! But right now the ones I’m most excited to get to:
- The Obelisk Gate by N.K. Jemisin
- Vampires of El Norte by Isabel Cañas
- Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir
What’s your special approach to content?
It’s so easy to get caught up in metrics and content burnout, so I’ve recently taken a bit of a step back so I could recalibrate and ensure I’m making things that bring me joy.
What’s your aesthetic / Instagram page theme?
A mix of book flatlays, reels, and cosplays!
How often do you post?
I used to try to post every (or most) weekday, and that definitely helped me to create a bigger audience, but now I try not to stick to any schedules. It brought pressure to be constantly creating, and that’s just not sustainable for my mental health. So now I take my time and just post whenever I’m up to it!
What’s your favorite bookstore?
I unfortunately don’t have many indie bookstores near me, so my go-to is my local B&N. I am hoping to visit Caspian Books in Tracy, CA soon!
What author would you love to take a selfie with?
I luckily have photos with a few of my favorite authors already, but I’m still hoping to meet Sabaa Tahir and Holly Black one day!
What’s your favorite book cover?
The French edition of A Conjuring of Light (my favorite Shades of Magic novel and one of my most prized possessions. I have a tattoo from those editions on my wrist!)

Do you have any advice for aspiring Bookstagrammers?
Give yourself time to discover what you want your account to be! My account now is draaaastically different than when I first started out (I swore I’d never do any videos of myself LOL). Everyone has to start somewhere, and you’ll find your aesthetic and community as you grow!
