Rising Democratic star Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s next step? Superhero! The Guardian reports that US press Devil’s Due Comics have recently published a graphic novel, entitled Ocasio-Cortez and the Freshman Force: New Party, Who Dis? The publisher states that the comic is “satire that aims at Washington,” and “spare[s] no one.”
Jill Thompson and Jose Garibaldi are contributors to the comic, an anthology of stories starring AOC. The comic book illustrations of Representative Ocasio-Cortez show her posing like Wonder Woman, demonstrating strength and leadership. Devil’s Due Publisher Josh Blaylock spoke to Comic Book Resources, saying:
“It’s no secret that AOC has become the unofficial leader of the new school, and has sparked life back into Washington and that’s reflected in the enthusiasm on display by the men and women contributing to this project. While we all don’t agree on everything, we share a common excitement for the breath of fresh air the new Congress brings. I hope this is as much a cathartic release for readers as it has been for us creators.”

Ocasio-Cortez’s “New party, who dis?” tweet in responding to Joe Lieberman, doubting AOC’s capabilities in contribution to the democratic party ended up being part of the title and her punchline.
AOC expressed how much she liked reading comic books, and made a comic book reference while taking time from her schedule to launching the Green New Deal in January. She quoted Watchmen creator Alan Moore on Twitter, saying “None of you understand. I’m not locked up in here with YOU. You’re locked up in here with ME.”
