You may know Sarah Jessica Parker from her role as writer and fashionista, Carrie Bradshaw from the television series, Sex and the City. Parker herself has always been involved with the literary world by advocating for libraries and worldwide literacy, as well as being a part of a Presidential Task Force to implement more literature and drama into schools. Now she’s taking on a new role: curating lists for book clubs everywhere.
Parker has teamed up with the American Library Association (ALA) to create Book Club Central, an online platform dedicated to providing content for book clubs and independent readers including lists, recommendations, and resources. Parker will act as the Honorary Chair and share her recommended titles throughout the year. The first book is to be revealed at the ALA Annual Conference and Exhibition June 24. In a statement Parker said,
“From an early age, books were my constant companions and my local library a place I could find a new friend on every shelf. It is a great honor and privilege to partner with the American Library Association and Book Club Central. I’m thrilled to help champion original voices for dedicated readers as well as for a new generation, supporting libraries in what they do best.”
We’re looking forward to seeing what she’ll recommend!
