Sabrina Carpenter will soon star in the upcoming adaptation of Marina Gessner’s The Distance from Me to You.
According to Deadline, New Line is in the process of developing an adaptation of the novel for HBO Max.
Carpenter is also set to executive produce the film, along with Danielle Fishel and Stan Spry, who will serve as a producer. Tiffany Paulsen, who previously worked with Carpenter as a writer on Disney Channel’s Adventures in Babysitting, will work as a screenwriter on the film.
The novel is both a of coming-of-age story and a wilderness thriller. The Distance from Me to You centers on two teens who meet and fall in love while on the Appalachian Trail, which spans from Maine to Georgia.
The teens are traveling for different personal reasons. McKenna is hiking the trail for a chance to prove to everyone who doubts her that she can do it. However, Sam seems to be on the trail in an effort to escape an abusive family. However, their love story takes an unexpected turn when the teens accidentally go off trail and find themselves struggling to survive in the wild.
While Carpenter is set to star in the wilderness thriller, it is unclear as to which of the main characters she will portray.
