Attention New Yorkers! Save the date! September 18th marks the 11th annual Brooklyn Book Festival, “the largest free literary event in New York City.” The lineup is incredible; it is a must go for anyone lucky enough to be in the neighborhood. The event will feature literary heavyweights like Salman Rushdie, A.O Scott, Joyce Carol Oates, and the incomparable Margaret Atwood. Attendees will also have the opportunity to get to know upcoming and international authors.

There are upwards of 200 authors scheduled to be there, so anyone who goes will have more than enough writers to schmooze with. A variety of panel discussions will be held, where writers talk about their work, and take questions from the audience, a la Comic Con. Last year’s festival was a rousing success, bringing in big names like Tavi Gevinson, Paul Beatty, and TONI MORRISON.

The event will also provide space for book sellers and publishers alike, who are seeking to promote their work. And for all the parents of young readers, there is a Brooklyn Book Festival Children’s Day on September 17th! Whatever your bookish needs happen to be, the Brooklyn Book Festival has clearly got you covered. Those interested can keep tabs on the event schedule by checking out their Facebook page.
