Rupert Grint recently opened up about his experience working on the Harry Potter films for over a decade. On Dax Shepard’s podcast “Armchair Expert,” the star called the experience “suffocating,” filming eight films back-to-back, as “it was every day for 10 years in the end.”
The Harry Potter star is now 32 years old, but was only 12 years old when he began filming the movies. In the beginning, only four books had been published and there were only two films planned. While he enjoyed the nice “family atmosphere,” he did continually wonder about doing other things and what other opportunities were out there.
“It just never ended,” Grint further elaborated on the Potter experience. “Every year, we came back. And it was kind of like Groundhog Day because it was the same sets. It was the same people. But it was great. I loved it.”
In particular, he notes his hair length in the fourth movie, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. “My hair in film four is one of my biggest regrets. I think everyone actually had a phase of having this really long hair. They liked it – it was kind of wizardy.”
In a shocking turn of events, Grint admitted that he hasn’t watched any of the films more than once, excluding the first, which he recently watched for a second time. He is a “huge fan of the books” and was “obsessed about being that character” referring to Ron.
While Grint won’t be rewatching the movies anytime soon, I’m sure most Potterheads will be—and enjoying the hair length in Goblet of Fire even more.
