Fans of both Rick and Morty and Game of Thrones might have felt conflicted at the end of last week’s Rick and Morty. After the latest episode of Rick and Morty, Adult Swim (Rick and Morty’s home channel) aired a vanity card that read “The Writing on Game of Thrones [2011-2016].”

GOT fans were not happy. Among those who were upset by the vanity card was Rick and Morty co-creator Dan Harmon. After getting hounded on social media about the GOT dig, Harmon renounced the card.
In a stream-of-conscious-esque rant that is typical of Harmon (as fans of Harmontown know), he says the vanity card was “a lazy, craftless jab at the WRITING on my favorite show that some pointlessly jaded teenage intern in Atlanta just left like a fart in my show’s space…”
Hopefully that alleviates some of the conflicting emotions felt by Rick and Morty and Game of Thrones fans. It’s okay to like popular things, people!
You can read Harmon’s full rant below. It’s pretty funny.
