Growing up in New York City, M.J. roamed the halls and paths of both The Metropolitan Museum of Art and Central Park. These enchanting spaces may have influenced her to later become a writer and publishing marketer specializing in the romantic genre. After completing her education at Syracuse University, her love of art led her to a career as Creative Director for Rosenfeld Sirowitz and Lawson. She even has a commercial featured in the Museum of Modern Art in NYC.

With a focus on the romantic genre, M.J. has had a long and successful career as a writer. Her works have made it to the charts of the New York Times. Her bibliography includes twenty novels and three nonfiction works about marketing. After publishers initially rejected her first attempt at a manuscript, she self-published her first novel, Lip Service, in 1998. It was so successful that the Literary Guild picked it up to be published in a mainstream publishing house, which was the first e-book to obtain this status.

Her Marketing Career

In addition to writing, in 2005, MJ founded Author Buzz, a marketing service for authors. As an author, she used her inside knowledge of the business to help other authors follow along in her footsteps. The company helps authors reach a large audience that includes readers, reading groups, booksellers, and librarians by promoting them on such platforms as Shelf-Awareness, Dear Reader, Book Movement, Publishers Marketplace, and Book Trib. When visiting Author Buzz’s website, you can find numerous testimonials on how M.J.’s services have helped so many.

Another venture that MJ was involved in was co-owner of 1001 Dark Nights and Blue Box Press. Combined, these series of books have sold more than four million copies since 2014, an incredible feat. The romance novellas range from paranormal to contemporary, so lovers of romance can find any narrative to spark their interest.

From the Bookstr family, we want to send our condolences and regards to the family and friends of M.J. Rose. It is tragic to lose such an important influence in this industry.
