Taylor Jenkin Reid’s upcoming novel Daisy Jones and the Six will be adapted into an Amazon limited series.
The 13-episode series will be co-produced between Amazon Studios and Reese Witherspoon’s production company, Hello Sunshine. The series will be written by The Disaster Artist Oscar-nominated screenwriters, Scott Neustadter and Michael H. Weber, and also produced by the novel’s author. Original music from the series will also be released through Amazon Music.
The coming of age story follows Daisy as she dreams of rock ‘n’ roll and fame in L.A., and the chaos that ensues when she crosses paths with the front man of The Six, Billy Dunne.
Both Witherspoon and Jennifer Salke, head of Amazon Studios, had raving reviews of the novel when the mini-series was announced. “I am so confident that Daisy and her band’s journey toward finding their voice will leave just as permanent a mark with viewers around the world as it did with me,” Reese said.
The female-led, woman-authored story fits Hello Sunshine’s mission to discover “content that celebrates women and puts them at the center of the story”.

“I loved it so much I had to take it off the market and bring it to Amazon Studios,” Salke stated. “I was immediately struck by how perfectly it fit into our overall approach of bringing passionate creators and entertaining, compelling content to our Prime Video audience.” This could be one of Amazon Prime Video’s first “addictive female dramas” that Salke alluded to in an interview she did with Deadline.com about her upcoming strategy as new head of Amazon Studios.
These pre-production talks are occurring before the book’s official release in March 2019, but is available for pre-order now.
