The Spider-Man: Far From Home trailer finally debuted this week. While it was glorious, you could definitely feel the absence of Robert Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark/Iron Man. Fans have been speculating that Tony will die in the upcoming Avengers: Endgame (which precedes Far From Home) for some time and the new Spider-Man trailer seems to confirm it.
Here are clues from the trailer that might be hinting at Iron Man’s death.
1. Peter leaves the Spidey suit at home
Before leaving for his summer trip, Tom Holland’s Peter Parker decides to leave the Spider-Man suit at home in the closet. The suit was a gift from Tony. On top of the PTSD he must be experiencing after the events of Infinity War and Endgame, Peter could be having a difficult time with the suit because it reminds him of Tony’s possible death.

2. Pepper Pott’s check
Happy has a giant donation check for Aunt May’s event and it is signed by Pepper Potts. While Pepper did replace Tony as the CEO of Stark Industries, Tony did have a sweet spot for May in previous Marvel installments. There’s no reason why Tony wouldn’t write the check himself.
3. Happy’s “all alone” speech
This scene looks like the set up for the final battle. Happy and Peter could be taking the plane to wherever the film’s antagonist is located. Happy could be telling him that he is “all alone” because Tony isn’t there to help out like he did in the prior Spiderman: Homecoming.
4. Bonus: His contract is up
After ten years of playing the iconic Iron Man, Robert Downey Jr.’s contract has technically ended. Multiple Avengers actors have been open to returning to the franchise but there is no recent information regarding any renewed contracts on Downey Jr.’s end.
Personally, I hope I’m wrong about Tony Stark’s end. No amount of narrative quality or logic in sacrificing Tony could outweigh potential future performances. Even in the least stellar of Marvel’s Iron Man installments Robert Downey Jr. managed to shine. We’ll just have to wait and see.
