Ready to add another incredible Bookstagrammer to your Instagram feed? Check out our Bookstagrammer of the week @readyourworriesaway. Her bookstagram has a light, welcoming aesthetic where you can find her recommendations for books that you might not have heard of.
Why did you start your Bookstagram?
I originally heard about bookstagram from being in a Book of the Month Facebook group. I loved the idea of having a separate space to share and connect with others about books. I started following some bookstagrammers and decided to create my own!
Where are you from?
I am from Nashotah, Wisconsin, which is located between Madison and Milwaukee. My husband and I now live in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin, which is very close to where I grew up.
What do you want your Instagram to bring to the world?
I want the world to know that reading is fun! I didn’t find a love of reading until I was in middle school, and now it is my favorite hobby. I want to put amazing books on peoples’ radar, and in return find new books that I have never heard of!
Fun Fact about you:
I am a middle school teacher! It’s a blast talking about books with students and introducing them to books that they fall in love with!
There are too many to count, but here are some of my favorites: @bookcasebeauty, @readingwithmegan, @whatmaddieread, @bookswithlulu, @amillionlittlepages, @book_club_at_kelseys, @karlasbookcorner, @bookishshan, @treatyoshelvess, @amyleabooks, @lisastoried, @yuki.reads
Favorite Books and Authors:
My auto-buy authors are Riley Sager, Peter Swanson, Lisa Jewell, Jasmine Guillory, Christina Lauren, Colleen Hoover, Taylor Jenkins Reid, Liv Constantine, Karen M. McManus, and Jodi Picoult. My all-time favorite books are The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid, All the Ugly & Wonderful Things by Bryn Greenwood, The Vanishing Half by Brit Bennett, and No Exit by Taylor Adams.
Jonah from The Simple Wild series by K.A. Tucker!
At this point, I’m not sure if there is hope for me to ever reach the end of my TBR… but I won’t go down without a fight! All of the books at the top of my TBR are books that are coming out this year. The ARCs are patiently waiting for me to pick them up! They include The Siren by Katherine St. John, The Soulmate Equation by Christina Lauren, The Maidens by Alex Michaelides, Malibu Rising by Taylor Jenkins Reid, Hairpin Bridge by Taylor Adams, The Stranger in the Mirror by Liv Constantine, and Survive the Night by Riley Sager.
What’s your special approach to content?
One thing that’s really important to me is that my bookstagram doesn’t feel like a chore. Reading shouldn’t be a competition, and you are a reader if you read one book in a year or a hundred books in a year! I usually take pictures on the weekend so that I have some pre-planned content for the week. This allows me to spend less time worrying about what I will post each day, and more time engaging with other bookstagrammers!
Aesthetic / Instagram page theme:
I would say that my aesthetic is bright and airy. You can expect to see my white bookshelves in the back of a lot of pictures!
How often do you post?
I typically post 5-7 times a week.
What does your Bookstagram mean to you?
Bookstagram is a creative outlet for me — a place where I can connect with others who love reading as much as I do.
The Shade Tree in Minocqua, Wisconsin. I try to stop in there every time I am up north visiting my family’s cabin!
Who would you have supply you with a lifetime of books?
@whatmaddieread! She creates the best reading guides on her bookstagram, and I always find myself moving her recommendations to the top of my list!
Author to take a selfie with:
Colleen Hoover. Not only is she an incredible writer, but she makes hilarious TikToks… and I’m not even a TikTok fan! I love her sense of humor.
Favorite book cover:
The Vanishing Half by Brit Bennett. Have you seen that beauty?!
Book you have claimed to have read that you didn’t:
Probably some required books from middle school and high school…
When did you know you had made it as a Bookstagrammer?
I’m not sure if I would say that I’ve “made it” as a bookstagrammer, but it was really cool to be featured in a Buzzfeed article about bookstagrammers that people should follow!
Is there a fandom for The Office? If so, sign me up! Not book-related, but The Office is the best show out there!
Advice for aspiring Bookstagrammers:
Don’t focus on the number of followers you have. Make it your own, find out what works and doesn’t work for you, and everything will fall into place! When I was just getting started, there were a ton of bookstagrammers who helped me figure things out. My messages are always open for anyone who has questions!
I usually do fun “This or That” polls on Monday nights, so tune in!
