Hot off her Oscar nomination for her role in The Favourite, actress Rachel Weisz is back to work on what looks to be another great film.
Weisz is set to produce and star in the film adaptation of the Max Porter novel Lanny. Releasing in the U.S. in May, it tells the story of a boy named Lanny who moves to a mysterious village and discovers the myth of Dead Papa Toothwort, an unknown figure who watches and listens to the other villagers every day.
Lesley Thorne, who represents the literary agency that owns the rights to the book, expressed her excitement for the upcoming adaptation.
“With such a peerless combination of talent involved this was an easy decision to make. We can’t wait to see how they realize Max’s unique storytelling on screen.”
The film adaptation will also be produced by London based production company The Bureau along with BBC Films. The companies are currently looking for a screenwriter for the film.
The book is available for pre-order now.
