Princess Diaries 3 is Not Confirmed

Earlier this week, The Tracking Board reported that Disney is bringing back Meg Cabot’s The Princess Diaries movie series with a third installment. Unfortunately for fans, it looks like this isn’t the case as of now. According to Variety, “no screenwriter is attached and the film is not being developed by the studio.”

Don’t give up your crowns, yet! Just because there isn’t a confirmed third installment of the series doesn’t mean it’ll never happen.

Actress Heather Matarazzo (aka Lilly Moscovitz) tweeted earlier this week about the, at the time, exciting news:

However, she just took it back:

The first film released in 2001 and was based on Meg Cabot’s first novel in the series of the same name. Starring Anne Hathaway and Julie Andrews, the story followed Mia Thermopolis and her journey from high school to royalty in the fictional kingdom of Genovia. Part two of the movie series, The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement, premiered in 2004 with the much-welcomed addition of Chris Pine.

We don’t know what the future holds for The Princess Diaries 3, but we certainly hope it’s happening!
