When did you start your Bookstagram?
May 5, 2019
Where are you from?
What do you want your Instagram to bring to the world?
Fun. I want to create a fun space where people can gush about books and completely nerd out about them without shame. I also really want to create a space that encourages people to read a wide variety of books – and branch out and try new writers and genres.
Fun Fact about you:
I’ve been to 32 countries – and I’m a travel writer in my other life!

What’s Your Special Approach to Content?
I just want all my content to be fun and vibrant – I love bright colors, and that’s the vibe I want to create on my page. I’m also a huge fan of nature and a botanical aesthetic, so I definitely incorporate that into my feed.
Aesthetic / Instagram page theme:
Bold, Vibrant Colors – with a lot of plants and flowers and food!
How often do you post?
On average, five times a week.
What does your Bookstagram mean to you?
It’s a space where I can explore my creative side while doing something I love. My job is pretty serious, so Bookstgram is a stress relief and a creative outlet all in one! I have also made some life-long friends on there…so I genuinely cherish the space.
In South Africa, my favorite bookstore is definitely Bargain Books. However, when I’m out of the country, my favorite bookstore is definitely Gays The Word in London! An entire store that specializes in queer literature? SIGN ME UP.
Who would you have supply you with a lifetime of books?
Nalini Singh! If she could write books forever and just supply me with those stories, I would live a happy life.
Author to take a selfie with:
I keep going back to her but…Talia Hibbert. I low-key feel like we would actually end up as best friends! I would love to meet her.
Favorite book cover:
Love in Colour by Bolu Babalola
Book you have claimed to have read that you didn’t:
Hahahahhahahahahahah I don’t think there’s any! Oh, wait…I definitely reference Pride and Prejudice very often, but I’ve actually only seen the movie!

When did you know you had made it as a Bookstagrammer?
When Talia Hibbert started following me! Hahahahahahah best moment EVER!
Uh….does Talia Hibbert’s Brown sisters count as a fandom? Asking for a friend…
Advice for aspiring Bookstagrammers:
Be authentic. Find an aesthetic that YOU like and build your page based on your own taste. It’s easy to get swept up in the hype and start reading books and posting photos that you see.
