Pottermore to Publish a New Series of J.K. Rowling Stories

2016 is shaping up to be a big year for Harry Potter fans. We are already geared up for a new play, book, and movie (not to mention two sequel films in the years to come) – and now, Pottermore has announced that fans will also get a new series of stories from the Harry Potter universe. Penned by J.K. Rowling herself, the series Magic in North America will cover everything from Native American legends to the Salem witch trials.

The new series was announced on Pottermore and through Entertainment Weekly, which posted a preview video on its Facebook page. Check out the full preview below!

While the original Harry Potter series took place in England, the new series of stories will take us across the pond. Among other things, the new writings will cover Ilvermorny – North America’s version of Hogwarts, about which little is currently known.

According to Pottermore, the first piece of new writing in the Magic in North America series will be titled History of Magic in North America. It will debut in four installments, which will be published on four consecutive days starting March 8 at 2 PM GMT (that’s 9 AM ET). More stories will follow as we draw nearer to the release of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. That film, like these stories, takes place in North America. Read the first story here
