Ever since his against-type casting, we’ve been eagerly awaiting to see how Neil Patrick Harris disappears into his role as Count Olaf, the unscrupulous villain in the new adaptation of Lemony Snicket‘s A Series of Unfortunate Events. Yesterday, we got our first look.
Photos have surfaced of Harris in full hair and makeup on set in Vancouver, where the television show has been filming for the past month. Even without his full costume, the usually loveable-looking Harris instills fright by sporting a fuzzy unibrow, greying, lightning-struck hair, long, sharp sideburns, and a pointed goatee.
We’ll have to wait just a little while longer to see his full transformation – the Netflix series is scheduled to premiere later this year.
The story tracks the trials of orphaned children Klaus, Sonny and Violet as they begin to unravel their parents’ mysterious private lives. As they move from caretaker to caretaker, they use their wits to uncover the circumstances around their family, all while attempting to evade being kidnapped by their conniving, murderous uncle.
