Game of Thrones seventh season finale finally sealed the deal between Daenerys Targaryen and Jon Snow, in a move that was equally predictable and utterly satisfying. While the duo’s on-screen lovemaking caught the attention of audiences everywhere, the scene also shined some spotlight towards another character: Tyrion Lannister.

Tyrion was caught creeping on the pair during their sex scene in a move that both puzzled and fascinated Game of Thrones fans. As soon as the episode faded to black, theories popped up online that sought to figure out what Tyrion’s behavior signaled. Was he jealous? Was it an omen? No one knows for sure, but actor Peter Dinklage is weighing in.
“It’s complicated,” Dinklage told Entertainment Weekly. “A lot of the time with Tyrion, it’s professional and personal. Obviously, he has feelings for Daenerys. He loves her — or thinks he does…There’s jealousy wrapped up in there.”

Dinklage more or less validates the jealousy theory of many fans, however he does suggest that Tyrion’s behavior has another underlying reason.
“He’s wondering how smart of a move [Jon and Dany getting romantically involved is], because passion and politics don’t mix well. He knows the two of them getting together could be very dangerous.”
As the record shows, nearly every romantic entanglement in Game of Thrones has its consequences, but hopefully Jon and Dany’s manages to prove more beneficial for both the characters and audiences. While fans and actors alike continue to come up with new theories, or offer their thoughts on already existing ones, we won’t know for sure until the final season airs.
