Want to know what New Yorkers read this year? Just check out this list from the New York Public Library. The NYPL compiled a list of the most checked-out books systemwide in 2015.
The number one spot went to Leaving Time by Jodi Picoult. Other notable titles that made the list included The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins, Go Set a Watchman by Harper Lee, and Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn. Women authors dominated the list, taking nine of the ten spots.

The library also released lists of the most checked-out books in each of the boroughs it serves (Queens and Brooklyn each operate independent library systems) and each of the branches it operates. The Girl on the Train topped reading lists in Manhattan, while the borrowers of Staten Island preferred NYPD Red 3.
The most checked-out book in the Bronx was TASC: Test Assessing Secondary Completion: Strategies, Practice, & Review, possibly because the Bronx is home to the prestigious Bronx High School of Science (or maybe just because the Bronx is full of good students).
