So Many, But Here’s My Top 3
Sarah J. Maas. I am convinced that she’s a writing savant. We’ve literally watched her writing progress over the course of her three series and one standalone. I am obsessed and impatiently awaiting her next book, which releases in January 2024. Hurry up already!
Nalini Singh. The pure love I have for this woman’s writing is *sighs in contentment*… The love stories she’s about to create, no matter the genre, are amazing. Her protagonists have a special place in my heart and my bookshelf.
Steve Berry. I’ve been a fan since 2004 and follow him on all his social media. The adeptness with which he writes truth into historical fiction is beyond compare. As a love of historical education and fiction novels, he delivers both every time.

He has to be the only author that I own every single book from because I love his writing and his take on a fantasy world. When I saw the news that his newest book, releasing next year, has a protagonist named Jai, I was shocked. I’m not sure about you, but that sounds like destiny to me!

Sally Rooney
I will always, without a second thought, buy anything written by Sally Rooney. Her refreshing, illuminating, and straightforward prose is so compelling to me, and I have deeply loved all of her novels and essays thus far. Rooney is certainly my favorite author of contemporary fiction because of her incredibly unique and effective style of characterization, which creates profound and empathetic characters that any reader can feel enthralled by. I truly recommend her to everyone, and I cannot wait to buy another book from her someday!

Erin Morgenstern and Stuart Turton
Erin Morgenstern is an author whose books I pick up without hesitation. I’m always in awe of her command over language — her prose is so beautiful and distinct, and it adds another level of uniqueness to her stories. For me, her books have the perfect balance of romance, high-stakes action, intricate world-building, and nuanced character work. I want to live in her worlds, which is a sign of an incredible story to me.
Stuart Turton is undoubtedly my favorite contemporary mystery author. His books are full of thrilling twists and turns I can never predict, and his concepts build off of and innovate genre conventions in exciting ways. I’m eagerly awaiting his next release!

Three Fantasy Writers With a Poetic Touch
Tomi Adeyemi. With the way she writes and creates an immersive experience for me, I can’t not pick up her books when they come out. I know she’s got one series going so far, but book one was enough for me to pick two without even a second thought. And once book three is out, I’m on my way to buy it!
Holly Black. There are no words to describe the beauty that is her writing! Her creativity around her characters, settings, understanding of fae lore, and just the poetic way she describes even the most grisly of scenes has me ready to give her my money for her books without hesitation.
Stephanie Garber. Another author whose writing creates the most vivid scenes I’ve had the pleasure of reading. The twists and turns in her works are quite amazing! She knows how to spin a fantastically beautiful work of fiction. I truly admire the way she writes.

Ellen Hopkins and Raina Telgemeier
Ellen Hopkins. I am obsessed with Hopkins’s writing design. I find her so poetic over such serious situations, and although some of her content can be difficult to digest, I just love her style of writing. Her stories are intense, but I can never put them down.
Raina Telgemeier. Raina’s book collection has such a special place in my heart. I grew up reading her graphic novel collection, and I feel like a lot of her writing got me through most of my school experience. Anytime she has a new workout, I order it straight away because I have never read a bad piece from Raina. I applaud her silliness and her way of connecting to her younger audiences through her past experiences.

Ana Huang and Scarlett St. Clair
Ana Haung. I cannot express just how much the Twisted series means to me. I feel so lucky to be alive at the same time that this series is flourishing! I cannot get enough of the storylines, couples, and spicy content. I am also just getting into her King of Sin series, and this author just never misses!
Scarlett St. Clair. Early this year, I was in an immense reading slump. I had just graduated college, and I was reading every day all the time for school, but not for myself. I received the first book of St. Clair’s Hades x Persephone Saga for Christmas and decided to give it a shot. I read that book in one sitting, ordered the next book with next-day shipping, found it as a PDF online while I waited, completed the book before I ever received the physical copy, and then same-day shipped the third book. I. Am. Obsessed. I have since preordered the remaining books in both the Hades X Persephone Saga. I can wholeheartedly say I would read anything this author puts out and love it with everything I have.
