Jaime Lannister

Nikolaj Costel-Waldau Hints At Jaime’s Fate on GoT

“Game of Thrones” fans watched in horror (or delight?) as Jaime Lannister’s unsuccessful attempt to face off with Daenerys and her military weapon Drogon lead to his possible death on Sunday’s episode.

Okay, if we’re being realistic his character probably won’t die considering his massive role in this last season (some fans theorize that he will play a role in Cersei’s demise).

Nevertheless, even if he does live (which I’m betting on) who knows what predicaments his character may be in, especially considering that the next episode’s promo shows Daenerys offering a harsh ultimatum to the surviving Lannister soldiers.

As we ponder Jaime’s fate, at least we have actor Nikolaj Coster-Waldau’s perspective on Jaime’s mindset and situation during the battle.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Coster-Waldau criticized Jaime’s idealistic battle notions which led to his decision to charge after Daenerys and Drogon.

“Jaime is such an idiot that he thinks for a second, ‘If I can do this, I can win the whole thing in a Hail Mary,” he told EW.

The face-off against Daenerys is not the only threat to Jaime and his future. Cersei’s risky decisions and commitment to doing anything necessary to win the Iron Throne, morality aside, offers new dilemmas.

“It’s not going to end well for Jaime Lannister, I can’t imagine,” Coster-Waldau said.

We’ll have to stay tuned to see whether or not Jaime is able to make his way out of the sea of conflict and, if he can, whether or not his face-to-face battle with the Khaleesi and her dragon will change his willingness to fight Cersei’s battles.
