Newbery and Caldecott Medal Winners Announced

The American Library Association has announced the winners of its two prestigious children’s book awards. Matt de la Peña wins the 2016 Newbery Medal for his book Last Stop on Market Street, and Sophie Blackall wins the Caldecott Medal for her illustrations in Finding Winnie: The True Story of the World’s Most Famous Bear.

The ALA awards the John Newbery Medal annually for “the most distinguished contribution to children’s literature,” while the Caldecott Medal goes to the most distinguished picture book of the year.

Also announced are three Newbery Honor books and three Caldecott Honor books. Check out the will list of winners and honorees below!
