Fans are counting down the days until the new Fantastic Beasts film drops. More trailers release, but they only seem to bring more questions than answers. One trailer shows a specific shot, in which many fans from other fandoms think they may have found some sort of easter-egg related to the Marvel universe.
Towards the end of the new trailer shown above, we get a glimpse of a scene with our protagonist, Newt Scamander, on a street casting a spell. In the shot, we are able to see a creature’s outline. When looked at closely, it looks like a humanoid-like tree-being of sorts. Could it be…?

Yup. To be fair, it does vaguely seem like Groot from The Guardians of the Galaxy franchise. While that would be sick, it’s just a theory and only speculation for now. In truth, what the visage may actually be of is probably that of a fully grown Mandrake. The two plant-humanoid beings share rough similarities, however the Mandrakes are the more probable argument.
Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald will release to theaters on November 16. The third film in the series is scheduled to release in November two years later in 2020.
