Slithering, conniving, and downright terrifying: this is how any Potterhead would describe Nagini, Voldemort’s serpent sidekick. One of the most loyal and trustworthy followers of Lord Voldemort’s entourage, Nagini was not only Voldemort’s right-hand snake and faithful companion, but she was also one of his seven Horcruxes.
From the very first teaser photo for the second Fantastic Beasts movie, The Crimes of Grindlewald, fans have speculated that there were more major twists to come! The final, full-length trailer has finally revealed Nagini’s history.
Listen closely or you’ll miss her name whispered among the gawking and gasping spectators as the Human Maledictus transforms into a man-eating python.

Breaking her silence, actress Claudia Kim has confirmed that the reptilian snake performer in the trailer is actually Nagini. She goes on to explain that Nagini isn’t the horrifying creature that we have grown to fear from the main Harry Potter franchise. In the upcoming film, she will be showcased as a free-spirited young, woman who wants to live her life despite knowing that time is ticking due to a curse. Nagini is a Maledictus-that is, the carrier of a blood curse that will permanently transform her into a beast. She is a woman thrown into a life she never chose, but intends to make the best of it each day by living life and staying as human as possible. In the film, we will see a side of Nagini never seen before.
The film will also delve into Nagini’s relationship with Credence Barebone, played by Ezra Miller.
Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald is set to hit theaters on November 16th.
