Warner Bros’ Warner Animation Group early this year secured a deal with Dr. Seuss Enterprises, giving them the rights to produce film and television adaptations of Seuss’s books, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
This whole affair began with the TV adaptation of Green Eggs and Ham, which was co-executive-produced by Ellen Degeneres. Green Eggs and Ham will air on Netflix later this year.
The first project of this new official partnership is a film animated adaptation The Cat in the Hat. We can only pray that it is more successful than the 2003 Mike Myers-led atrocity.

Dr. Seuss Enterprises president Susan Brandt has said:
For generations, Dr. Seuss has entertained and delighted children and adults alike with his whimsical tales. Our partnership with Warner Animation Group continues those efforts by reimagining the beloved characters and stories for theater-going audiences, while keeping the integrity of Dr. Seuss’s vision intact.
So A) here’s hoping that they do a better job than what was done with the previous The Cat in the Hat film, and B) looks to have been done with the upcoming Illumination Animation version of The Grinch. I watched the trailer. I was not impressed. See my thoughts here.
