There is one thing that The Witcher team want you to know: The Netflix adaptation of the fantasy series will be for a more mature audience, not for kids!
Better hire a baby sitter because this looks like it’s going to be good!
The news that the series would be geared more toward adults was announced by Executive Producer and Show Runner Lauren S. Hissrich on Twitter this past weekend.

Makes a lot of sense when you think about it: aside from the fantastical beings and wondrous magic, the story is pretty heavy, and even political at times.
There’s a reason the games have an 18+ rating, and the original novel series The Witcher by Andrzej Sapkowski were no joke, either. Just look at these book covers! Certainly not something to be bringing to third grade show-and-tell!

The Netflix series hasn’t been given any kind of rating just yet, but it’s good to know that it won’t be changed to suit a larger audience. Unfortunately for now there is no release date, but we do know that filming has been going on in Eastern Europe since April of last year.
WE’LL BE SHOOTING IN EASTERN EUROPE. Yes! This show couldn’t exist anyplace else. Period. Also, I just spent ten days surrounded by Slavic eye-candy. I MUST come back, soon.

Hopefully Hissrich will keep us posted on any new updates for this very exciting new series.
