Netflix has greenlit adaptations for Leigh Bardugo’s Shadow and Bone and Six of Crows fantasy novels. The “Grishaverse” sagas will receive an eight-episode series that will be developed by Stranger Things producer 21 Laps Entertainment.
Comingsoon.net reports that the series will combine the characters of both novels, placing them in a world where monsters hunt down human beings that are divided by a war between two nations. One soldier discovers a magical power that could potentially unite both sides. However, numerous forces are scheming against her, and she must race against time to use the power to improve her world.

Birdbox screenwriter Eric Heisserer will serve as a showrunner on the series. Heisserer has plenty of experience with successfully bringing the fantastical to the screen after his recent projects have been well received. His work with adapting Arrival for director Dennis Villeneuve should prove particularly useful in bringing the “Grishaverse” books to life.
The next chapter of Bardugo’s Shadow and Bone series, King of Scars, is set to hit shelves later this month as well.
