Today, June 12th, is Peanut Butter Cookie Day. Peanut Butter is one of those American staples that nearly every young American has access to and enjoys in different ways, so it’s no wonder that not only does it have a National celebratory day for the spread itself (January 24th, National Peanut Butter Day) but it also has a special celebration for a delicious product of it: Peanut Butter Cookies.
The patenter of peanut butter, Marcellus Gilmore Edson, patented it in 1884, though there is widespread knowledge that a form of peanut butter was available as early as the Incas. Peanut butter became a popularly sold item in stores in 1920, and the oh-so-yummy cookies were already being homemade across America. The first recipe of these deliciously sweet disks of peanut-y delight can be found printed in 1932 in “The Schenectady Gazette.”

Their key ingredients being peanut butter, sugar, and eggs make them easy to make and easier to eat. If you’re a peanut butter and a cookie lover, celebrate Peanut Butter Cookie Day with some cookies!
