More ‘Harry Potter’ Terms May Be Added to the Dictionary

According to BBC, the Oxford English Dictionary is looking to add more words from J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter series! ‘Muggle’ which is a non-magical person, was already added to the dictionary in 2002.

Most words have to be in circulation for about 10 years before the dictionary can consider them for publication. Now that Rowling’s series has been out for over ten years, we can’t wait to see what words they add!

BBC reports that the words Quidditch, Potterhead, Wrock (A type of music/Wizard Rock), and possibly Horcrux could be added to the dictionary.

Harry Potter isn’t the only work of literature that the dictionary has purged. Lord of the Rings, Roald Dahl’s books, and Shakespeare are just a few.

What words from literature would you like added to the dictionary?
