Recently, it was announced that Melissa McCarthy was in talks to play Ursula in the remake, though the deal has not been finalized. Yesterday, it was revealed that Awkwafina (Crazy Rich Asians) and Jacob Tremblay (Room) were also in talks to star in the film. Awkwafina will play a gender-swapped version of Scuttle while Tremblay will play Flounder.

Even though the supporting cast seems to be filling out, there is still no word on who will play Ariel and Prince Eric.
