The creators of ABC’s “Fresh off the Boat” have collaborated with Six-Word Memoirs to provide some optimism regarding the topic of immigration in the new book “Six Words Fresh Off the Boat.” Celebrities like Mila Kunis, Aziz Ansari, and George Takei sing songs of hope and praise to their immigrant parents, or, more generally, the immigrant experience.
Entertainment Weekly has revealed a handful of these brief memoirs. Here are some memorable ones:
A better life for our children
– Mila Kunis
Every immigrant’s journey is truly incredible.
– Aziz Ansari
Even after internment, still love America.
– George Takei
America, thanks for adopting my family.
– Regina Spektor
“Six Words Fresh Off the Boat” also includes a foreword penned by “Fresh Off the Boat” creator Nahnatchka Khan and executive producer Melvin Marr, which you can read here. Other contributors include Julianne Moore, Neil Gaiman, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, Mario Batali, and Junot Diaz.
It’s nice to see the people behind one of TV’s most timely (and hilarious) comedies are truly invested in their material. The new book is sure to be heartfelt, and moving. “Six Words Fresh Off the Boat” will be released September 5, and you can pre-order it here.
