Megan Rapinoe isn’t done making moves just yet. After becoming both the top scorer and best player at the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup, Rapinoe will transfer her unique message into a book.
First reported by The New York Times, Rapinoe has signed on to a book deal with Penguin Press for an untitled project to be released in 2020. It will feature both an inside look into Rapinoe’s sports world as well as personal anecdotes from her life.
Rapinoe is known for her superior soccer ability, but she is also an outspoken advocate for social justice. So outspoken that she caught the ire of the President of the United States after she said she wouldn’t visit the White House if the team won.
Despite the controversy, Penguin Press president Ann Godoff believes that her outspoken nature is what contributes to her authenticity, and is what will make Rapinoe’s book stand out:
“Coming from that very honest and authentic place and being able to find a way to put that on the page… I think will make a very lasting book.”
