Marvel ‘Eternals’ Writer Neil Gaiman Calls Trailer ‘Shivery’

After the new teaser trailer for Marvel’s ‘Eternals’ was released, writer Neil Gaiman expressed his opinion of the new movie that will hit theaters in November.

Starring Kit Harington, Angelina Jolie, Richard Madden, Millie Bobby Brown, Kumail Nanjiani, Salma Hayek, and Gemma Chan, people are more interested in Marvel’s Eternal than ever before since the movie’s teaser trailer was released.

The comic debuted in 1976 by Jack Kirby, but only lasted two years because of the lack of popularity. It was brought back in 1985 as a 12-issue mini-series created by Peter B Gillis.

The immortal superpowered team was not heard of too much again until 2006 when Neil Gaiman brought the characters into the modern era. Gaiman’s version tends to be readers’ favorite among the three different versions of the comic.

After watching the teaser trailer, Gaiman tweeted:

“I watched this and got shivery at the way that the fires that Jack Kirby lit get passed from creator to creator, and keep burning. I’m glad I got to touch the flame Jack kindled, on the Eternals, and pass it on.”

Gaiman passes “the flame” to Chloe Zhao director of the Eternals movie. With a lack of material to base the characters on, Zhao has opportunity to shape the characters into what she thinks will best fit the story. Based on comments it sounds like she will mostly be pulling from Kirby’s original story, but every piece of the team’s history will most likely influence her decisions.

The movie is set to hit theaters November 4, 2021.
