There is a new Grindelwald in town! Due to recent allegations surrounding Johnny Depp and his former marriage, Warner Bros, asked Depp to step down from the role. Depp only starred in the sequel to the Fantastic Beasts Franchise, The Crimes of Grindelwald, which was released in 2018. The allegations of domestic abuse surround Depp and his ex wife started around that time. JK Rowling, didn’t object to the removal of Depp from the role, but fans have some issues with Mikkelsen taking over. Not only is he known for being in Doctor Strange, but his major role is Hannibal. Fans were hopping for a revival of the series but with this new role, Mikkelsen might not have the time so all hope of is practically gone.

According to Jude Law, who portrays a young Albus Dumbledore in the franchise, he said in situations like this, the only people who have a say in what’s going to happen is the company. Warner Bros is in charge of making the big decisions when it comes to these films, but did they make the right one? So far, this franchise doesn’t have a great track record. There are a lot of inaccuracies with the films that don’t line up with the original Harry Potter franchise. For one thing, excuse the spoiler but, how is Credence related to Dumbledore? That just doesn’t make sense, but that’s just one thing that doesn’t add up.
Fingers crossed Mikkelsen brings something great to the table as Grindelwald.
