Another week, another amazing bookstagrammer to add to your Insta feed! This week, check out @livs_library. Combining her love of photography and her love of books, Liv will add some cozy, bright book pics to your life. Read our full interview with her below!
Why did you start your Bookstagram?
I started my bookstagram account at a time in my life when my photography business was going through a slow winter season. It quickly became a way to keep my creative mind and eye sharp! What better way to combine my love for photography and reading? I’ve been a part of the community for three years now.
Where are you from?
I’m originally from near Chicago, but now live in Greenville, SC!
What do you want your Instagram to bring to the world?
I want my Instagram to be a safe place for people to express their opinions of their favorite books. But also to be a warm and welcoming space where people come for book recommendations, whether you’re a long-time book nerd or have just discovered your love for reading!
Fun Fact about you:
When I’m not reading, I’m usually photographing a wedding or creative portraits. I’ve owned my own photography business for eight years now!
Favorite Books and Authors:
My favorite authors are Riley Sager, Leigh Bardugo and VE Schwab.
Definitely Peeta Mellark or Henry from The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue.
What’s your special approach to content?
I usually don’t have a specific approach when shooting content. I like to share books that I’m obsessed with and I want everyone to read. I just like to have fun!
Aesthetic / Instagram page theme:
I don’t have a specific theme, but I tend to lean more towards an earthy feel with plants and warm tones to create a cozy feel. I want people to see my feed and immediately feel like they’re home!
How often do you post?
I used to post daily because I love interacting & talking to people about books, since not everyone in my real life nerds out as much as I do! I’m quickly learning that it’s okay to post only when you’re in that creative mindset so you don’t burn out. I want to keep bookstagram as a hobby and if I’m not feeling inspired, I’ve learned to give myself a break.
What does your Bookstagram mean to you?
One thing everyone needs to know about the book community is how supportive everyone is! It’s a great way to meet new people! It has also helped me grow so much in my personal reading and discovering new books.
I tend to lean more towards second-hand book thrift stores. The two in my area are 2nd & Charles and Mr. Kay’s. You will most likely see me there weekly!
Who would you have supply you with a lifetime of books?
Tor Books has amazing books and new releases that I always enjoy!
Author to take a selfie with:
Jay Kristoff or VE Schwab seem like such amazing down-to-earth people!
Favorite book cover:
Book you have claimed to have read that you didn’t:
Percy Jackson – I loved the movies when I was younger but still have yet to read the series!
When did you know you had made it as a Bookstagrammer?
When I was able to make genuine real connections with people and lifelong friends that I talk to every day.
Advice for aspiring Bookstagrammers:
Don’t focus on the aesthetic or numbers, but focus on the connections you can make with people around the world. Don’t lose sight of your purpose in starting your account in the first place!
I host an online monthly book club called The Homebody Bookclub with two of my best friends where we read a wide variety of books. You can find us on Instagram, YouTube & Goodreads – we’d love to have you join us!
I also have a YouTube (booktube channel) where I rant about books mixed with lifestyle content!
