Netflix has picked up the live-action Cowboy Bebop series that is currently in production! The adaptation of the iconic anime will get a ten-episode run, according to Variety.
Production involves collaborators both new and from the original series. Midnight Radio and Tomorrow Studios will develop the adaptation alongside Sunrise Inc., the studio responsible for the original animated iteration. Screenwriter Chris Yost (Thor: The Dark World, Thor: Ragnarok) will executive produce and write the adaptation. Original series director Shinichirō Watanabe will consult.

The jazz-inspired, genre-bending story follows a group of bounty hunters on the run from their pasts as they hunt down the galaxy’s most dangerous criminals. They’ll even save the world if the price is right.
The original series introduced new waves of American audiences to anime when it was released back in 2001 on Adult Swim. It is also frequently cited as one of the best anime series of all time.
Cowboy Bebop will be the latest addition to Netflix’s library of live-action adaptations as the streaming platform pushes further into animation territory, following last year’s Death Note and the recently announced Avatar: The Last Airbender.
