“Legend of Korra” Continues with New Comic Series!

Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko’s “The Legend of Korra” ended three years ago on the powerful image of Korra holding hands with her partner, Asami, as they walked into a spiritual portal for a romantic getaway. DiMartino is teaming up with artist Irene Koh to continue Korra and Asami’s story where it left off with “The Legend of Korra: Turf Wars.”

The series will follow the duo on their romantic retreat to the Spirit World, but things aren’t going perfectly for the new couple. A new threat looms over Republic City, and will force the gang to get back together. But what fans are most curious about is the blossoming romance between Korra and Asami.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, DiMartino had this to say regarding the young couple:

The challenge was to balance the fun and romance of their relationship with some personal strife. I didn’t want their romance to be too perfect, but I also didn’t want to saddle it with too much conflict, either.

The final shot of the series finale was beautiful. It will be fascinating to see how DiMartino continues Korra’s story…but let’s start thinking about the next “Avatar” TV series, okay? This is an “Avatar” franchise people actually want…
