Because the bend and snap is all about the timing. Jumping on the delayed-during-COVID-19 train is Legally Blonde 3, the threequel of the beloved, utterly pink saga that taught us how to come out of a breakup with flying colors and a law degree. MGM tweeted earlier this week that Elle Woods would be back, if a little later than fans expected.
Elle Woods is back! Legally Blonde 3 coming May 2022. We rest our case. #LegallyBlonde3 #ElleWoods @ReeseW pic.twitter.com/WnxI1YEfqD

The latest chapter of Elle Wood’s badassery is set to come out on May 20, 2022, and while it has no appointed director as of yet, it is counting on what can only be a promising script by Mindy Kaling and Dan Goor (the man behind Parks and Recreation and Brooklyn Nine-Nine). Reese Witherspoon, who brought Elle Woods to life, will be producing through her company Hello Sunshine, along with Marc Platt, who produced the first two films. Plot details and decisions about cast members have been kept private.
Elle Woods—a California blonde with a degree in Fashion Merchandising, a love of manicures, and a ton of can-do energy—has always had a potent streak of social awareness, what with her philanthropic fundraisers as head of her sorority Delta Nu, and her advocacy for the Bruiser Bill (a bill to end animal testing in the makeup industry) in Legally Blonde 2: Red, White, and Blonde. It will be fun to see what kind of involvement our favorite Gemini vegetarian (or vegan now?) will have twenty years after her Harvard graduation.
