Lady Stoneheart Has “Important” Role in ‘Winds of Winter’ Says George R.R. Martin

During his recent interview with China’s Esquire magazine, George R.R. Martin was naturally asked about Winds of Winter (which we’re all patiently waiting for).

The Game of Thrones author has been a wee bit slow with publishing the sixth novel in the series and has naturally faced growing pressure from fans. Perhaps that is why he delighted us by giving us a rather positive spoiler.

The author revealed that Lady Stoneheart will have a much larger, and more important, role in the upcoming book.

“After Catelyn’s resurrection, it was Lady Stoneheart who became a vengeful and merciless killer,” Martin said. “In the sixth book, I still continue to write her. She is an important part of the entire book.”

For GOT fans who are currently catching up on the books, I’ll try not to spoil it too much— but I what I will say is if you’re expecting to see much of Lady Stoneheart you may be a tad disappointed.

The character hasn’t appeared very often in the series so far, however Martin’s insight offers some hope for Lady Stoneheart fans.

The real question is: will she appear in the final season of HBO’s Game of Thrones

Guess we’ll have to stay tuned to find out.
