As filming on the last season of HBO’s hit series Game of Thrones enters its final days, stars are starting to talk about their lives and careers post-Thrones. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Kit Harington, who has played the major character of Jon Snow since the first season, discussed his plans to ditch his iconic on-screen look after filming wraps.
“I’d like to step away and enjoy the obscurity, cut my hair, make myself less recognizable as the character, and go do and some other things with a completely new look and tone,” he explains. “The beard will be harder to get rid of — I quite like the beard.”
Many Game of Thrones looks were achieved with wigs – Emilia Clarke’s silver-gold Targaryen hair was artificial, but the Jon Snow hair and beard are real.

Ultimately, he says, “I can’t go into my next role looking the same. This role was brilliant, but I’ll need to get rid of Jon Snow.”
