Keanu Reeves’ BRZRKR Hits Comic Stores Wednesday

Yes, you read that right! The man, the myth, the legend himself has created and co-written a comic book!

BRZRKR, pronounced “berserker”, is about an immortal warrior who looks like Reeves, obviously. The warrior is on a quest to discover his true origins and a way to end his 80,000 year life! The comic series will run for twelve issues. It is under Boom! Studios, who have released titles such as MegaMan, Firefly, and DUNE. Reeves co-writer is Matt Kindt, who has written for Spider-Man and Justice League among many of his own works. More than 615,000 were ordered for comic book stores by retailers, which is amazingly a large volume.

From an interview that came out in January, Reeves had this to say:

Creating and co-writing BRZRKR is a thrill for me, as I have loved comics since I was a young kid and they have been a significant influence on me artistically throughout my career.

The series was under a bit fire previously because of the Kickstarter campaign Boom! Studios started for the project. It was thought to be a bit detrimental for the comic industry, but it quickly surpassed its goal of $50,000 back in September to over $373,007. So, the people have clearly spoken!

Here are some images from the comic drawn by Ron Garney and colored by Bill Crabtree.

Personally, I think this is awesome. The man is basically a cartoon character anyway, so a comic book series seems very fitting! What do you think? Will you be picking this title up? Let us know!
