The novels center around Klara, who is what’s known as an artificial friend, that patiently waits for a customer to choose her as their artificial friend, in a store. Through her observations, readers get to explore both the life inside the store and what happens on the street. The novel sets out to examine how the world changes everyday. Faber will release two special editions of the novel. The novel will be tailored for Waterstones and independent bookshops.

The Waterstones version will have sprayed edges and endpapers, while the independent bookshop version will have a special color lay of mint, pink, and red on the jacket. The publisher released the official cover today, pictured above. The novel won’t hit the shelves until 2021, but you can preorder your copy here.
