Julia Roberts to Star in Maria Semple TV Adaption

Today Will Be Different, Maria Semple’s latest book, has been plucked for a TV adaption by Annapurna pictures. Following at the heels as star and co-producer is Julia Roberts, who will play the protagonist, Eleanor Flood.

The novel covers a day in the life of Flood, attempting to have the best day ever, but having her plans constantly derailed by circumstance and odd coincidence.

There is not yet a network attached to the adaption, but according to the Hollywood Reporter, the project will be spearheaded by Semple herself, who has worked previously as writer and producer for shows like Arrested Development and Suddenly Susan. Alongside Roberts, Semple and several others will operate as executive directors.

The Today Will Be Different TV adaption will be a first for Annapurna, which prior to the current project, focused solely on the big screen, behind titles like Her and Sausage Party to name a couple.

“I’m giddy that Eleanor Flood will be brought to life by Julia Roberts and am elated to collaborate with Megan Ellison, Sue Naegle and the team at Annapurna on this endeavour” Semple told the Hollywood Reporter. “This will be a fun ride!”

Air date is still TBD, but stay tuned for more news on the TV debut!
