With five Fantastic Beasts movies in the works, there will be ample time to explore many of J.K. Rowling’s complicated characters. The second Fantastic Beasts movie will delve deeper into the relationship between young Albus Dumbledore and Gellert Grindelwald – two most powerful wizards of their time.
What J.K. Rowling has made clear is that she always envisioned Dumbledore as gay. Jude Law, who will play young Dumbledore opposite Johnny Depp as Grindelwald, told The Wrap in relation to Rowling revealing Dumbledore’s sexuality: “I don’t know, I read that too- first of all, you have to know, I haven’t read any of the script yet, but that’s another layer to what creates this great wizard we’ve come to know and love.”
Law also said he hopes to meet J.K. Rowling and discuss the role further. He said, “I’m very curious to hear about Albus as a young man, I’m intrigued to meet her and to lift the stone on him.”
Hopefully, Rowling and Law will meet and dive a little deeper into young Dumbledore’s life!
