Johnny Cash’s previously unpublished poems are set to be released next week in a collection entitled: Forever Words: The Unknown Poems. It will be published by Blue Rider Press, and edited by celebrated contemporary Irish poet, Paul Muldoon. The book contains 41 poems, some of which Cash wrote when he was as young as twelve.
Here is an original manuscript of one of the poems, entitled ‘Don’t Make a Movie About Me’, which displays Cash’s famous sense of humor:

The press release states,
Since his first recordings in 1955, Johnny Cash was an icon in the music world. In this collection of poems and song lyrics that have never been published before, we see the world through his eyes and view his reflection on his own interior reality, his frailties and his strengths alike.
