J.K. Rowling is constantly dropping new information about the Harry Potter universe, keeping all of us Potterheads on our toes. Last week she revealed that there are two Harry Potters and we were shook. But then we realized what was actually going on. Here’s the whole story.
In a Pottermore post last week, Rowling wrote about the Potter family. While giving us more background on the Potters, she revealed Harry’s great grandfather had a familiar nickname.
“Henry Potter (Harry to his intimates), who was a direct descendant of Hardwin and Iolanthe, and served on the Wizengamot from 1913 – 1921. Henry caused a minor stir when he publicly condemned then Minister for Magic, Archer Evermonde, who had forbidden the magical community to help Muggles waging the First World War. His outspokenness on the behalf of the Muggle community was also a strong contributing factor in the family’s exclusion from the ‘Sacred Twenty-Eight’.”

So technically there are two Harry Potters. This Henry (Harry) Potter sounds like a cool guy — and shout out to him for standing up for Muggles! But he’s not the real Harry Potter. Harry James Potter will always be the original Harry Potter to me. He is “the chosen one” after all.
Is this an outrage? Is this no big deal? Let us know what you think in the comments!
