It’s the anniversary of the Battle of Hogwarts: Who is Rowling sorry for killing?

J.K. Rowling Apologizes for Killing Off…

The Battle of Hogwarts emotionally killed me. It took the lives of so many beloved characters, from Fred Weasley (internally screams and cries) to Nymphadora Tonks and Remus Lupin (dies a little). But the Battle also ended the Second Wizarding War, which needed to happen. According to the Harry Potter calendar, May 2nd marks the anniversary of the dreadful day. Annually, J.K. Rowling pays tribute to a character who was killed off during the battle.

First, she let us, and the police know, that she’s not REALLY apologizing for killing anyone…

Then she warned all very devoted fans of her work that they may not love who she’s sorry for killing… before telling us who it is:

People had a lot to say because people always have a lot to say. Some were pretty darn negative:

But others reacted with emotional understanding:

We’re still crying.
