It’s J.K. Rowling’s Birthday and You Can Celebrate at this Harry Potter Supper Club

On this day in 1965, “Harry Potter” series author J.K. Rowling was born in Gloucestershire, England. This Monday, the famous author turns 52 and fans all over the world are sending their best wishes.

In order to celebrate this special occasion, you can visit this Harry Potter Supper Club dressed as a Gryffindor, Slytherin, Ravenclaw or Hufflepuff. With a seven-course menu inspired by Rowling’s magical creation, Covent Garden members’ club The Library will be holding weekly gatherings every Friday and Saturday throughout this August and September.

Recall the Great Hall where Harry and his peers enjoyed friendly gatherings with delicious cuisine. The long supper table was crowded with “roast beef, roast chicken, pork chops and lamb chops, sausages, bacon and steak, boiled potatoes, roast potatoes, fries, Yorkshire pudding, peas, carrots, gravy, ketchup, and, for some strange reason, peppermint humbugs.”

Get started with a butterbeer or firewhiskey, the ‘Hogwarts letter’ amuse bouche, before starting a trio of starter courses all named in the theme of Harry Potter. First on the menu, there’s the “Devil’s Snare” made with chia seed, courgette, and seaweed, followed by “Who is Peter Minus,” which mainly consists of lamb and onion crumble and. The “Triwizard Tournament”, a baby red mullet drink, rounds out the list.

The “Hatstall,” a Hogwarts term used for any student who requires longer than five minutes for the sorting hat to select a house, has also been used as the title of a dish consisting of beef fat with bread and chicken liver parfait.

For a main course, enjoy the “Secret Keeper,” which is smoked anguilla in kimchi broth. If you still have room left after all that, there will be the “Honeydukes” dessert – a white sesame sponge with figs and bay leaf ice cream.
