Adorable animal and self-proclaimed “King of Pop Culture” Doug the Pug has landed a book deal. The photo book, naturally called Doug the Pug: The King of Pop Culture will be written by his owner, Leslie Mosier, and will be released on November 1.
Despite what you may feel about dogs dressing up and having their own Instagram accounts, Doug the Pug has become a bona fide Internet celebrity. His Instagram account has 1.4 million followers and his Facebook page has a whopping 3.7 million likes. The pug has taken photos with celebrities and sports teams alike. His face adorns shirts, calendars, and scarves, so it’s not out of the ordinary to make the plunge into publishing—especially since it’s a path that’s been hard forged by authors before him, such as Grumpy Cat and Bo Obama.
Still, many questions arise: Will the people that adore the dog’s online presence be interested in purchasing a book? Who will translate Douglas’ insights and anecdotes from dog-speak into a human language? Will anyone challenge the K.O.P.C.’s crown if the world decides we’ve reached a ‘pug peak?’
More importantly, what do you think? Are you excited to get the book? Let us know in the comments below!!
