As everyone is painfully aware, the COVID-19 pandemic has altered life as we know it, including celebratory days. Originally scheduled for April 25th, this year’s Independent Bookstore Day was moved to August 29th, and even though the majority of this year’s events were virtual, the upside of this was being able to “visit” these events from the couch without even having to get out of your pajamas. (or without putting on pants. We won’t judge.)
The festivities kicked off Friday, August 28th, at 7:30 EST with a discussion about Elana Ferrante’s upcoming novel The Lying Life of Adults, hosted by Mary Norris and Ann Goldstein. Then Saturday began a full day of drawing classes, readings, and panel discussions with authors such as Tayari Jones, (An American Marriage) Kat Cho, (Vicious Spirits) and many others. For a full list of the day’s events, visit the Independent Bookstore Day website here.
