The highly anticipated Harry Potter video game, ‘Hogwarts Legacy’ was supposed to be released this year but now it’s been pushed back to 2022. The game is a open world action game set in the 1800s. Way before anything exciting happened at Hogwarts. It’s a weird time period to set the game, but it could be cool depending on what they do with it.
According to a tweet from the developer, the game needs more time to be great. Maybe now they can make it so it’s more current and exciting than the Wizarding world in the 1800s. It was first announced last year during an event for the latest PlayStation model, PlayStation 5. The same team that created Disney Infinity, Avalanche Software is developing the game. The whole project is being overseen by Portkey Games, which is a new division that was created for Harry Potter experiences. Portkey also oversees the Hogwarts Mystery game app for Apple and Android. That game takes place about ten years before Harry Potter goes to Hogwarts, and some familiar faces are in the game, including the Weasley siblings, Percy, Charlie, Bill, Fred and George. Even Tonks is a character in the game. It’s not clear if anyone else we know from the books will be in this game, since it takes place in the past. Since the game is being pushed back another year that gives fans who don’t own a gaming system time to get one. The game will be released on Playstations 4 and 5, Xbox One and XBox Series X, and PC in 2022.
